EM64T == Intel64 == x86-64

EM64T is the same thing as Intel 64, just a re-branding.. x86-64 is the vendor neutral way of referring to all reimplementation of the AMD64 architecture. Yes, in fact, IIRC, EM64T came first (which I found a very confusing term), the Intel 64 name came later (which cleared things up a lot). At the time, I think some people at Intel still believed IA64 was going somewhere... Nedbrek 19:38, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

IMO Intel 64 too much resembles Intel Architecture 64 (= IA64, = Itanium), so I would personally avoid references to "Intel 64" and stick to EM64T/AMD64/x86-64, in order of increasing preference - Combuster 09:38, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
