An unfinished standard, (set for release in November 2009, according to the official timeline), IEEE 802.11n is the latest implementation of the 802.11 protocol. 802.11n supports theoretical speeds of up to 600 Mbps in both the 5 and 2.4 GHz bands. The first 802.11n devices were implemented using Draft 2 of the standard.
