SciTE is a multi-language, syntax highlighting, code completing, open-source editor (apparently with a build function.) SciTE supports assembly language, C, C++, bash scripting, Python, Perl, Ruby, HTML, XML, and many more. Unfortunately there is no highlighting for linker scripts or FreeBASIC.
